Questions this episode answers

What does the Corsair's Disruption Web do?

It creates a cloud over an area that completely stops ground units and defensive buildings underneath (such as Siege Tanks and Photon Cannons) from attacking. The Protoss army can then push into a choke and destroy the position without taking damage.

How does the Science Vessel's Irradiate work against Zerg?

Irradiate covers the target in a radioactive field that deals heavy damage over time to it and to nearby biological units, such as Mutalisks, Defilers and Ultralisks. It doesn't hurt mechanical units, Probes, eggs or larvae.

What is the difference between EMP Shockwave and Defensive Matrix?

EMP Shockwave is offensive: it removes all shields and energy from units and buildings in an area. Defensive Matrix is defensive: it wraps one unit in a field that absorbs 250 damage for a while.

Why is an early Corsair so important in PvZ?

It scouts the Zerg base quickly and safely and kills unprotected Overlords. That forces Zerg to invest in Hydralisks or Spore Colonies and slows down its economy and aggression.

Full summary

Episode 13 moves from general strategy to a detailed look at two air units and their spells: the Protoss Corsair and the Terran Science Vessel. It is for beginners and intermediate players who want to use both well.

Grast starts with the Corsair's Disruption Web (125 energy), a cloud that stops enemy ground units and buildings underneath it from attacking. He shows it in a classic PvT by the Korean Protoss Forio on Lost Temple, and in his own PvZ against ShoQ on Destination, where Corsairs scout and hunt Overlords before he moves to Reavers and Carriers.

The second half covers the Science Vessel's spells: EMP Shockwave (removes shields and energy), Irradiate (damage over time to biological units) and Defensive Matrix (a 250-damage shield), shown in replays of Boxer and of Flash against hero. Finally Grast uses a single-player game on Arcadia to walk through the Terran tech tree up to the Science Facility and its add-on, and to show exactly how Irradiate and the Titan Reactor upgrade work.
